My Emotions … One Day At A Time

If you’ve ever been on a roller coaster, you’d know that the minute you’ve buckled in and the ride starts, there’s nothing you can do about it until it ends.

So, you can either:

  • Close your eyes, and shout: “Get me outta here, I don’t wanna stay here any longer.”
  • Close your eye, and surrender: “This is gonna be over soon, but I really don’t like it.”
  • Open your eyes, and say: “Okay, this is gonna go on as long as it goes, so I might as well open my eyes, enjoy it, feel the butterflies in my stomach, learn from it, challenge myself, open myself to the adventure.”

That is #life

And that’s what we call our #emotions when faced by a sudden and drastic change: An #EmotionalRollerCoaster

In a way, this is our biggest learning from #COVID19:

  • To let go of the illusion of control
  • To accept the fact that we had plans and those plans are suddenly out in the air.

So, for everyone who’s a planner, for everyone who likes things to be structured and organized:

  • Trust the process
  • Trust that whatever is happening is for the best
  • Extend that learning to everyone around you (children, parents, friends, colleagues, neighbors…etc.)

Emotions are out there to give us intelligent information, you can’t really choose what emotion you have. So, you can either resist it, accept it, or learn from it.
